USUI REIKI

Reiki, in short, was re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the 1800's while meditating on the holy mountain of Kurama. He was spontaneously attuned during this experience and he used his acquired knowledge to heal others and eventually found he was able to attune others to this energy. His teaching was spread to the west mainly by Sensi Hawayo Takato who taught in Kauai and is responsible for initiating 22 Reiki Masters who have gone on to attune many more, and on and on....

Usui Reiki Masters are able to trace their lineage directly to Dr. Usui himself. That is one of many differences between Usui Reiki and the vast array you find available today. It is grand indeed there are so many healing roads you can choose to take. Always feel what is appropriate for you.

In an article by the Honolulu Advisor, printed Feb 25, 1974, Sensi Hawayo Tanaka is quoted:
“It’s a cosmic energy to heal the ill. Reiki, which is applied by hand, goes to the cause and effect. When the cause is removed, there will be no effect. It is not associated with any visible material being. It’s an unseen spiritual power that radiates vibration and lifts one into harmony. This power is incomprehensible to man, yet every living being is receiving its blessings.
